About Bill Kanter J.D., M.B.A.

Bill Kanter has been an attorney and retirement planning specialist in the Chicago area for over 15 years.

He earned his joint J.D., M.B.A. from DePaul University College of Law and Graduate School of Business in 1989. He concentrates his practice in estate planning, elder law and retirement planning. Bill has developed a specialty in working with retirees and those about to retire who want to protect their principal and insure that their money lasts throughout their retirement. His practice focuses on helping pre-retirees and retirees avoid the most common estate and financial mistakes especially mistakes that involve market risk and IRA distribution planning and succession.

coupleBill also provides long-term care and Medicaid qualification advice. His retirement seminars have been widely attended by hundreds who enjoyed his ability to explain complex concepts in easy-to-understand language. Over the years, Bill has helped hundreds of people avoid estate taxes, pass their estates to their children without the costs and issues of probate, have confidence in their ability to pay for their senior health care and protect their estates. Due to recent and beneficial IRS changes affecting IRAs and 401(k)s, Bill has been able to advise many clients how to establish an “IRA Family Bank” which can provide a family a fortune for generations. Bill is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Bill lives in Chicago with his wife Valerie and their five children.

Bill has spent his career helping people from all walks of life grow and protect their life savings while keeping taxes low. “I have helped many people protect their retirement assets and not one of them have ever lost a penny from market downturns.” Bill is able to sleep well at night with the comfort of knowing his client’s retirement funds are protected. It is his desire to give you that same peace of mind.
